A Salt-belt Survivor

This first generation Toyota Tacoma is a pretty rare sight in New England. Most of these were bought back from Toyota due to frame rust issues. This one survived and has no signs of significant corrosion on the frame and the body is also remarkably clean. 

Powered by the bulletproof 3.4L V6 and backed by the 5-speed manual transmission with manual four-wheel-drive, this Tacoma will tread through most anything. The most recent maintenance on this example includes a complete head overhaul due to a misdiagnosed misfire. The misfire turned out to be a bad injector, but the whole head was removed and machined, a new head gasket was installed, as well as new timing belt, tensioner, water pump/thermostat, serpentine belt, valves, injectors, plugs and wires.

The exterior is in decent shape with typical imperfections including scratches, dings and peeling graphic decals. There is some bubbling around the top of the windshield frame, but no water-leak issues. The rockers, cab corners, fenders, bumpers and tailgate are in really nice condition.

The interior has some wear on the driver's seat and floor mat. The rest of the interior is very nice with very minor staining in random spots. All factory electronics work including the rear differential lock, clutchless start, OEM radio and all power windows and locks.

The chassis and mechanics are in very good condition. The drivetrain is in perfect running order. The engine starts, idles and drives smoothly, the transmission shifts flawlessly through all gears and the transfer case engages in all modes (H2, H4 and 4Lo) with ease. Newer Bilstein shocks are installed as well as new brake pads, rotors and calipers in the front. The emergency brake holds the vehicle as it should. Four brand new tires are also installed. The Maine State Inspection doesn't expire until August 2019.
